The jury of the festival consists of leading dancers, musicians and specialists in culture and art of
the Czech
Republic, Slovakia, Germany and other countries.

The jury invited well-known masters in nominations, including the casting jury of Disneyland and cruise companies.

JURY FOR REGIONAL ROUNDS

Magdalena Matejkova

She was born in Prague in 1989. In 2008 she graduated from the Dance Conservatory hl. of the city of Prague with professors Jaroslav Slavický, Hana Vláčilová and Kateřina Slavická. She represented the school at many performances at home and abroad. She danced in the choreographies Talking with Frida (J. Kodet), Evening songs (J. Kylián), Bolero (P. Zuska), Twilight (L. Vaculík), Don Quixote (Jerzy Graczyk after M. Petipa) or Sleeping Beauty (J. Slavický according to M. Petipa).

From August 18, 2008, she joined the National Theater as a member of the ballet company, and three years later she was appointed demi-soloist, and from the 2015/2016 season, soloist of the National Ballet. She was permanently employed until June 30, 2023.

Among her classic solo roles are: Pas de trois, Pas de quatre and The Spaniard from Swan Lake (K. Greve), 1st variation, Pas de six from III. performance of the ballet Napoli (F. Andersen after A. Bournonville), Klara and the Chinese dance in the ballet The Nutcracker – A Christmas Story (Y. Vamos), Gerda in The Snow Queen (M. Corder), The Little Mermaid (J. Kodet), Lise in Vain Cautions (F. Ashton), title Lena (Ch. Spuck) and others.

She is the holder of several awards: 3rd place Prix Carpeaux Valenciennes (France, 2005), 1st place International Ballet Competition Lviv (Ukraine, 2006), International Dance Competition Roma (Italy, 2007), International Ballet Competition Vienna (Austria, 2007), 3rd place International Ballet Competition Helsinki (Finland, 2009), ND Director’s Award for artists under 35 (2018).

Andrea Popov Smejkalová

The first soloist of the NdB Ballet
After graduating from the Brno Dance Conservatory, she immediately got a job at the NdB Ballet. Soon after joining the company, she was introduced to major roles in the classical ballet repertoire. She became a soloist of the ensemble in 2005, she has been the first soloist since the 2018/2019 season. She gradually danced the title and main roles both in classical and neoclassical ballets, as well as in the contemporary repertoire. From the list of her roles, for example, Klara (Nutcracker), Medora and Gulnara (Corsair), Odetta-Odílie (Swan Lake), Giselle, Nikie, Gamzatti (Bajadera), Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Lucile/Lucidor (Lucidor and Arabella), Madame de Tourvel (Dangerous Acquaintances), Juliet (Romeo and Juliet), Phrygia (Spartacus), Solo (Maria’s Dream) and danced in choreographies by Jiří Kylián (Falling Angels) and Nach Duat (Gnawa) etc. She participated in the Competition of Dance Artists of the Czech Republic and Slovakia in Brno 2000 and the International Ballet Competition in St. Pölten (2002). At the 1st International Ballet Competition Brno 2003, she won the 3rd place. price, on II. She won the 1st prize at the International Ballet Competition Brno 2006. In 2006, she received the prestigious Philip Morris Award – “The Bud of Ballet”.

Simon Kuban

Vystudoval Taneční centrum Praha, které úspěšně zakončil v roce 2010. Během studií působil ve školním souboru TCP Balet Praha junior a představil se v choreografiích Ramona Ollera, Attily Egerháziho či Samuela Delvauxe.

V letech 2010 – 2012 působil v Jihočeském baletu, kde měl možnost tančit v choreografiích Jiřího Kyliána, Mária Radačovského, Václava Kuneše a Attily Egerháziho.

V roce 2012 se stal členem Pražského komorního baletu, kde postupně tančí v choreografiích Kdo je na světě nejmocnější?, Hádej kolik je hvězd, Mono No Aware (H.Turečková), Sinfonietta (P.Šmok), aj.

V roce 2012 zakládá společně s Nikol Šneiderovou soubor Sandalfon dance company, kde prezentuje vlastní choreografická díla ve spolupráci s multižánrovým umělcem Janem Mrkvičkou.

Již od studijních let se aktivně věnuje vlastní choreografické tvorbě. Společně s partnerkou Nikol Šneiderovou vyhráli choreografickou soutěž v Bytomi (PL) a krátce po studiu se prezentovali na festivalu Zlatá praha s choreografií Anyway. Dnes v choreografické práci pokračuje v rámci souboru Sandalfon dance company.

Účastnil se workshopů s choreografy Jeane Solan, Uri Ivgi, Johan Greben, Gyula Harangozo, Irma Rubio, aj.

Dále spolupracuje s choreografem Palem Kršiakem a hostuje v opeře Rusalka v ND.

Dmytro Tenytskyy

A charismatic dancer who handles both technically very demanding roles and internally complex characters. He has not only dancing talents, but also acting abilities. His expression on stage is fresh and convincing. He has been a member of the Czech National Ballet since 2013, when he joined as a core de ballet. In the 2014/2015 season he was appointed demi-soloist and since the 2015/2016 season he has been a soloist.

Dmytro was born in 1989 in Kharkiv, Ukraine, where he studied ballet school in 1995–2005. In 2005–2007 he extended his education at the Ballet Conservatory in Perm, Russia. Between 2006 and 2009 he was a soloist at the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre and then from 2009 until 2013 he was a soloist at Teatr Wielki in Poznan, Poland. He then moved to the National Theatre in Prague.

This season, audiences can see him in The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol by Youri Vàmos (Policeman Bobbie / Nutcracker, Waltz – solo), The Sleeping Beauty by Márcia Haydée (Prince of the East, Puss in Boots) and La Fille mal gardée by Frederick Ashton (Cockerel).

He has also appeared in Forsythe / Clug / McGregor; Leonce and Lena by Christian Spuck; Kylián – Bridges of Time by Jiří Kylián; Kafka: The Trial by Mauro Bigonzetti; La Bayadère by Javier Torres and many other productions.

Paul Irmatov

Paul is an exceptionally gifted artist with bravura technique and self-confidence, especially in classical variations and parts. She dazzles with her deep inner beauty, the poetry of her dance performance, but also her tenacity and diligence.

The dancer of Russian origin grew up and studied in Germany. He was first trained in dance by his parents Igor and Elvira Irmatov. After graduating from the dance academy in Munich (Kirill Melnikov) under the direction of Jan Broeckx, he joined the National Theater Ballet in 2018. In April 2021, he became a demi-soloist. Thanks to the extremely impressive portrayal of the title character in John Crank’s Romeo and Juliet, Paul Irmatov was immediately promoted to the position of first soloist immediately after the Czech premiere in February 2022, in 2023 he was awarded the National Theater Director’s Award for artists under 35 for his performances at the National Theater .

Among his most important roles at the National Theater are Romeo in Romeo and Juliet or Lensky in Onegin (J. Cranko), Prince Desiré or the Blue Bird in Sleeping Beauty (M. Haydée), Colas in Vain Caution (F. Ashton), Stanley Kowalski in Trams to Touha station (J. Neumeier) or James in La Sylphide (J. Kobborg). We will not forget his roles in the modern repertoire: Chosen in Tetley’s Rite of Spring, interpretation of Forsyth’s work The Second Detail or Pastor’s opus Moving Rooms and Goecke’s Fly Paper Bird. Paul also draws attention to himself in solo parts: waltz and Russian dance in the Nutcracker – A Christmas Story (Y. Vàmos), Golden Buddha in Bajadéra (J. Torres) or as Benno in Swan Lake (J. Cranko). It is also presented in productions of the neoclassical repertoire, for example in the Psalm Symphony, Petite Mort and Bella Figura (J. Kylián) or Puppet (D. Lee).

Federico Ievoli

The young talented artist attracts attention not only with his technical prowess, but also with his flair for portraying dramatic moments of fate as well as sitcoms.

Born in Naples, he received his education at the dance school at La Scala in Italy. As a dancer, he was engaged in the Balletto di Siena under the direction of Marco Batti (2011-2015), where he was appointed soloist in 2013. In 2015, he became a member of the National Theater Ballet, where he rose from the chorus to the position of first soloist, to which he was appointed in April 2021.

Among the most important roles in the classical repertoire, we can name Lensky in Onegin (J. Cranko), Romeo in Romeo and Juliet (P. Zuska), Bobbie/Nutcracker in the Nutcracker – A Christmas Story ballet (Y. Vàmos) or Knight Danceny in Valmont (L. Vaculík). . However, Federico draws attention to himself in other roles as well, for example as the Prince of the West in Sleeping Beauty (M. Haydée), the Painter in the ballet Kafka: The Process (M. Bigonzetti), etc. Federico Ievoli also appears in neoclassical choreographies such as Serenade (G. Balanchine), Gods and Dogs, Petite Mort, Bella Figura, Psalm Symphony (J. Kylián), Separate Knots (E. Gat), Kafka: Process (M. Bigonzetti), Cacti (A. Ekman), Decadance (O. Naharin ).

As part of the Ballet gala from the National Theater We will dance with it in the spring of 2020, Ballet 101 (E. Gauthier) impressed in the solo choreography.

Ivan Popov

First soloist of the National Theatre Brno Ballet

Ivan Popov received his dance education at the ballet academy of A. J. Vaganova in St. Petersburg, where he studied with professor Boris Bregvadze. After completing his studies, he worked for five years as a soloist of the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg and another five seasons with the Wiener Staatsballett. After one season he danced as first soloist with the Hungarian National Ballet, the San Francisco Ballet and the Columbia Classical Ballet. His repertoire includes many leading roles in classical and neoclassical ballets, such as Siegfried (Swan Lake), Albrecht (Giselle), Solor (Bajadera), Désiré (Sleeping Beauty), Basil (Don Quixote), Prince (Nutcracker), Des Grieux ( Manon), Onegin and many others that he danced on stages around the world. He also danced in ballets by George Balanchine, William Forsyth, John Neumeier, Boris Eifman, Renato Zanella and others.

 

He is the holder of a silver medal from the international ballet competition Premio Roma Danza (Italy), the best dancer award at the Etoile de Ballet 2000 competition in Cannes, France, and the George Balanchine Violin Concerto prize at the Isadora Duncan dance competition in San Francisco. Since the 2012/2013 season, he has been a soloist of the Ballet of the National Theater Brno, and since the 2018/2019 season, he has been the first soloist.

Kateřina Rodionova

B.Sc. Kateřina Rodionová taught subjects: classical dance technique She studied ballet at the Kyiv State Dance Conservatory, graduating in 1986 with a degree diploma with honors and special commendation from the school. After school, she joined as soloist of the ballet of the National Theater in Kyiv. During a ten-year engagement, she created a series characters from the classical repertoire, e.g. Swan Lake – Odetta, Odílie, Gizele – Gizele, Don Qichote – Kitri, Romeo and Juliet – Juliet, Bajadera – Nikia, Nutcracker – Masha, Carmen – Carmen. She often went to perform in national theaters abroad (Tokyo, Paris, Madrid, Rome, Berlin, etc.), she also took part in many international ballet competitions (5th International competition in Moscow in 1988, 1st Sergey Lifar International Competition – Kyiv 1995, which she won). In 1987 she participated in the Ballet Stars festival, in 1995 she became Honored Artist of Ukraine. In March 1996, she accepted a job at the Municipal Theater in Ústí nad Labem, where she took over the main roles of the classical repertoire and represented the theater at numerous guest appearances abroad (Paris, Madrid, Seoul and others). In 1997, she accepted the engagement in the Laterna Magika theater in Prague, where she performed as a soloist in all performances until in 2009 and regularly gave training sessions for the Laterna Magiky ensemble. She graduated in 1999 distance learning at the International Slavic University in the field of ballet master. Regularly she guest starred in the title roles in the performances of “Swan Lake” and “Gizele” at the Národní theaters in Brno and Bratislava. She worked as a teacher at the Duncan Center Conservatory of classical dance in the period between 2010 and 2012, and to this work again in February 2014 she returned He also currently works as a teacher at the Laterna Magika Theater.
